The History

graphic device

On Monday 10th November 1919,
Philip Gosse, Oskar Teichman and H D Clementi-Smith were working (Ministry of Pensions) in an upper room in the Windsor Hotel opposite A & N Stores. Oskar suggested a monthly Old Bart's Dining Club; Clementi-Smith suggested it should be called La Barta and Philip TheFountain.

The first dinner
was at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 27th November 1919 at Bellini’s, Mill Street.

In May 1922,
Oskar Teichman was appointed Clerk and he instituted the yearly booklet of rules and list of members

St Bartholomew Medallion - obverse

The centre of the badge bears the image of St. Bartholomew, with the inscription, "Guard, Prosper and Bring Happiness". The reverse is stamped with the British design registration number, "753589" which corresponds to the year 1930 and the maker's mark, "Birmingham Medal Co"

St Bartholomew badges and mascots were produced for the hospital. They were intended to bring good luck to the car's occupants and the sale proceeds were donated to the hospital funds.
