Our senior member, Gordon Bourne, passed away peacefully on Sunday 4th November. He was an interesting man of many talents and foresight, who made a major contribution to Bart's and to women's health in London. The funeral was on Monday 4th December.
A Memorial Service for Gordon will be held at
St Bartholomew the Great Church,
West Smithfield, London
at noon on Tuesday 29 May.
Bring hearty voices and a colourful tie.
The service will be followed by a reception at
The Worshipful Company of Haberdashers' Hall,
West Smithfield, London.

The Fountain - restored
On Monday 10th November 1919,
Philip Gosse, Oskar Teichman and H D Clementi-Smith were working (Ministry of Pensions) in an upper room in the Windsor Hotel opposite A & N Stores. Oskar suggested a monthly Old Bart's Dining Club; Clementi-Smith suggested it should be called La Barta and Philip TheFountain.
The first dinner
was at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 27th November 1919 at Bellini’s, Mill Street.
In May 1922,
Oskar Teichman was appointed Clerk and he instituted the yearly booklet of rules and list of members
The centre of the badge bears the image of St. Bartholomew, with the inscription, "Guard, Prosper and Bring Happiness". The reverse is stamped with the British design registration number, "753589" which corresponds to the year 1930 and the maker's mark, "Birmingham Medal Co"
St Bartholomew badges and mascots were produced for the hospital. They were intended to bring good luck to the car's occupants and the sale proceeds were donated to the hospital funds.

Membership to be restricted to old St. Bartholomew’s men and women. Since 1995 students qualifying from the combined Bart’s London medical school will be eligible for membership assuming their proposer can demonstrate a true allegiance to Bart’s and that they meet all the other criteria of membership.
Membership is by invitation governed by an electoral procedure.
The Club year shall begin at the October meeting and the election of officers for the year shall take place at this meeting, which shall be presided over by the outgoing Master, who is not eligible for re-election the same year.
MASTER for 2017–2018
The dinners to be held in the second Thursday of each month at 1930 hrs.
No dinners will be held in the months of April, July, August and September.
Once a year the Club shall entertain a Guest of Honour, who need not be a member of the medical profession. On these occasions the ordinary Club dinner shall be served.
A Town member who fails to attend three dinners, or a Country member who fails to attend one dinner during the Club year, shall cease to be a member of the Club unless a satisfactory reason for absence is given.
